Humboldt Park Watch enhances organization structure creating a board of directors, partnering with the Park People and establishing paid membership.

Recently, several changes to Humboldt Park Watch have been implemented to build on past efforts of dedicated volunteers including Ruth Simos, John and Penny Manke, Lurea, Nichole Williams and Julie Zettel. These changes will facilitate efforts to preserve and enhance Humboldt Park and continue unique programming involving our community and encouraging park stewardship.

Last summer, Humboldt Park Watch established a board of directors to provide leadership to the organization. Elections will be held in July and staggered for historical carryover.

The new board established committee chairs for all HPW sponsored events. Each chair is responsible for developing an event budget, securing volunteers, and promotion. Committees will provide updates at general meetings and all budgets will be reviewed and approved by the board.

This March, Humboldt Park Watch entered a partnership with the Park People of Milwaukee, providing new resources including 501(3)(c) status. This tax exemption facilitates appeals for grants and donations from individuals and corporations. In addition, HPW will be under the Park People of Milwaukee liability insurance.

The community can participate with HPW by volunteering or becoming a supporting member. Annual membership is $10 and provides the opportunity to vote for board members.

Humboldt Park Watch looks forward to your continued interest and support of our park. All public are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. Times and dates are available on the newly launched website: www.humboldtparkmilwaukee.org.
