Friends,
You may have read recent news articles about park land zoning and a list of 43 parks that are not currently zoned as such. What isn’t being reported is that the County Executive had already initiated requests to local municipalities, prior to the County Board’s action, to change the zoning on those parcels from their current zoning designation to Parks District as soon as practicable. This is a complicated analysis as each municipality has their own zoning designations.
Please be assured that the County Executive takes protecting parks and preserving the natural environment very seriously, and we are being very thoughtful, thorough and diligent in our review and recommendations. As always, please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great weekend and THANK YOU for supporting your parks!
